It is not at all uncommon to read about yet another celebrity being banned from a foreign country. Maybe it's because they're more visible than others or because they travel more than most people. Whatever the reason, many celebrities are no strangers to being escorted out of foreign countries and being told never to return, and some celebrities have even been kicked out of other countries before they've even set foot on the ground.. Following are 10 well-known people who are banned from foreign countries:
Brad Pitt usually isn't on anyone's list of badly behaved celebrities,so it's surprising to hear that he's not allowed to enter China. His exclusion from that country isn't due to shenanigans on his part, however --- he's kicked out because of his screen appearance in a film called "Seven Years in Tibet."
Snoop dog has been banned from several countries, including the entire United Kingdom, Norway, Australia, and the Netherlands. He was banned from the UK after people in his entourage vandalized a duty free shop after being denied entry to the first class lounge (they held couch tickets). Shortly after, Norway and Australia denied him entry but subsequently all countries have revoked their ban.
Alec Baldwin was banned from the Philippines after making a joke about Philippina mail order brides appearing on David Letterman's "The Late Show." Even a public apology couldn't sway the minds of Philippine officials, and Baldwin remains an undesirable alien in their eyes.
Lady Gaga was denied entrance to Indonesia prior to a scheduled concert in that country because religious groups were concerned about the negative effect that the singer would have on the morality of their children.
Internationally renowned R&B singer Akon has been banned from entering Sri Lanka because of a music video he starred in that officials of that country deemed offensive. The video showed bikini-clad women dancing at a poolside party with a statue of Buddha in the background.
The wildly famous superstar has been banned from the country of Malaysia due to official concern about the risque outfits that she wears on stage. Islamic officials are also concerned that allowing Beyonce to perform in their country might serve to promote Western culture.
Miley Cyrus s another American celebrity who is not welcome in China. Officials of that country made that decision after the young star posed with several friends while making faces with their eyes purposely slanted.
Despite a stint in federal prison, Martha Stewart is hardly the kind of person who anyone associates with being kicked out of a foreign country. However, the lifestyle mogul has been refused admittance to the UK based on her conviction of federal crimes in the U.S.
It probably comes as no surprise to anyone that bad girl Paris Hilton has been banned from Japan. She was questioned at length after attempting to enter Tokyo two days after pleading guilty to possession of cocaine in the U.S., and Japanese officials decided to decline to allow her to pay their country a visit.
Harrison Ford is another U.S. star who has been banned from China, but like Brad Pitt, the reasons are political rather than personal. Ford's testimony in front of the U.S. Senate in support of an independent Tibet earned him an invitation from the Chinese government to stay away from their country.
